Day 1: Hanoi – Cho Moi – Ba Be National Park (L/D)

Leave the city behind as we head north toward Chợ Mới, where the smooth asphalt dissolves into the rolling rhythm of hill plantations. This is where your 4×4 adventure truly begins: tracing raw dirt tracks through rural landscapes that remain a secret to most travelers.

After a rugged trail lunch, we’ll detour to a hidden waterfall for a refreshing swim in crystal-clear mountain waters. We’ll roll into Ba Bể National Park by dusk, arriving at your lakeside homestay around 6:00 PM. End your first day with a peaceful evening, tucked away in the quiet embrace of the forest.

Overnight: Homestay in Ba Be

Day 2: Ba Be National Park – Off-road & lake exploration (B/L/D)

Start your morning gliding across the emerald waters of Ba Bể Lake. We’ll explore dramatic limestone cliffs, hidden caves, and winding river channels before stepping ashore for a guided trek into the lush tropical forest to uncover the park’s rare flora and wildlife.

Then, the engines roar back to life. We’ll push our 4×4 jeeps deep into the mountains for a 20 km off-road expedition. This is raw Vietnam: remote Hmong and Dao villages where rice terraces cling to impossible slopes and life follows an ancient rhythm. Enjoy a wild picnic lunch surrounded by nature before we navigate the mountain tracks back to the village.

Overnight: Homestay in Ba Be

Day 3: Ba Be – Secret off-road route – Hanoi (B/L)

Savor a slow morning and a final lakeside breakfast before we venture into the “Hidden Zone” north of Ba Bể. Today’s drive takes us off the map and into a restricted forest area, a landscape steeped in intrigue. Once a feverish site for French colonial gold and mineral exploration, this rugged corridor connects several nature reserves and remains largely untouched by modern travel due to its sensitive history.

The highlight of the morning is a trek to the haunting ruins of a French industrial outpost dating back to 1902. We’ll explore the remains of early colonial infrastructure : stone foundations and rusted machinery swallowed by the jungle, offering a rare window into the 19th-century mining rush.

After a final picnic lunch in the wild, we begin the descent back toward the city, reaching Hanoi by early evening to conclude your epic 4×4 expedition
